Virginia Tech Shooting

  • at nine years, hospitalized with pneumonia

  • diagnosed with a hole in the heart

  • at three years of age, heart surgery that leads to trauma

  • did not like being touched

  • perceived as medically frail

  • did not interact verbally or socially in elementary school

  • sent to a psychiatrist and received the diagnosis of severe "social anxiety disorder"

  • exemplary student in high school but still showed noticeable symptoms of social anxiety

  • after high school, got into Virginia Tech, a Business Information technology major

  • caught professors attention after writing a poem about violence, shooting and murders

  • hospitalized for making threats to himself and a female neighbors at the Virginia Tech's dormitory

  • aberrant behavior persisted through his post secondary studies with multiple complaints from professors

  • dark, hateful and disturbing behavior towards faculty

  • raised by a single mother who worked long hours as nurse to support him and his sister

  • felt abandoned by his mother

  • his sister bullied him calling him gay as he did not have a girlfriend

  • Disregarding women’s rights in positions traditionally held by men.

  • Experienced Childhood abuse or neglect, unstable or erratic parenting or inconsistent parental; discipline, Marc and his mother were constantly hit by his father

  • Witnessed his father at a young age abuse and disregard his mother.

  • Failed  to accept the societal norms and women’s rights in the workforce/ institutions.

  • Displayed signs of Aggression, Sexual Frustration, Low Self-Esteem, Depression,

  • Received a dishonourable discharge/Rejection from military service.

Pulse Night Club Shooting

  • described and considered to be “moderately Muslim

  • 5 years later the family moved to Florida where Omar did all of his schooling where he would be consistently suspended for violence and fighting classmates

  •  After the 9/11 attacks Omar would praise the terrorists and claim that he had relation to Osama Bin Laden and other Al Qaeda ties

  • After failing to become a corrections officer due to his violent tendencies along with other infractions, he would marry his first wife in 2009. This marriage only lasted 4 months, but shortly after divorce Omar would marry again and have a child.

  • Both of his wives claimed that he was abusive, violent and possibly bi-polar. In 2013 while working in security

  •  Omar caught the attention of the FBI when he made a series of comments to co-workers claiming to be a member of Islamic extremist group Hezbollah

  • In the aftermath of the shooting, criminal justice agencies collected information

Timeline - École Polytechnique
Montreal

-   Arrived at the university housing at 4 pm armed with semi-automatic, rifle and hunting knife. Was familiar with the layout of the building since he was known to visit the campus multiple times leading up to the event which lasted 20 minutes.

-   Disturbed an ongoing lecture on the second floor and ordered a class filled with 60 people to separate men versus women on either side of the room. Which were ignored until he started firing shots into the ceiling.

-  The men left the room and Marc proceeded to tell the women remaining that he was fighting feminism while shooting at them . He killed 6 and injured 4 in that room.    

Pink Sugar

-   On the first floor, he opened fire on a crowd of 100 people, then walked back up to the third floor killing students on the way to another classroom, fired shots at the first row of students and killed women trying to escape the room.

-   After shooting and stabbing Maryse LeClair, the daughter of the Montreal Police director who was one of the people trying to escape, he turned his rifle on himself and killed himself within 20 minutes after his first attack on the first classroom.
